Celebrating 10 years as an HSI

Texas State University became a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in 2010. In its 2004-2009 Strategic Plan, "Embracing Change," Texas State identified as a key outcome the expansion of campus-wide conversations on diversity with the goal of developing a comprehensive university diversity plan. This plan was updated in 2009 to include achieving designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by 2012. Texas State has experienced rapid enrollment growth over the past decade and achieved HSI status before its self-implemented deadline — and it continues to recruit and support students from diverse backgrounds every year.
